How To Boost Your Monday Motivation

Whether you’re working from home or heading into the office, getting motivated at the start of the working week can seem like a challenge and with so many #MondayMotivation posts on social media, you may wonder where yours has gone. Here are some of the top tips on how to boost your monday motivation levels and make sure you make the most of the day.

Rise and Shine

Going to bed early on a Sunday may feel awful, but you’ll be grateful on Monday when your full night’s sleep means you feel more energetic. If you’re tempted to keep snoozing your alarm, put your phone or clock in a hard to reach place so you will have to get up to switch it off. By the time you’ve done this you’ll already feel awake and can get on with your day.

Reward yourself

If on Monday morning you are worrying about looming deadlines or an important meeting, be sure to plan your week out and reward yourself for completing tasks and getting the job done. By knowing there will be a positive outcome, whether that’s buying your favourite coffee in your lunch-break or arranging fun plans for Friday night, your usual Monday stresses will seem more manageable.

Plan Mondays on Friday

Friday can seem like an opportunity to coast knowing the weekend is just around the corner, but if you know on Monday that you will have a huge workload to get through you should use your Friday’s wisely. Being organised is one of the top ways to boost your Monday motivation for the following week. Try to get through any outstanding tasks or be proactive in planning what you will do next week so when you arrive in the office you already feel like you’re a step ahead.

Love the job you do

According to Alexander Kjerulf, an international author and speaker on happiness, the Monday blues are ‘a set of negative emotions that many people get at the beginning of the workweek if they’re not happy at work’ and a cause of this can simply be that you don’t enjoy what you do. If you are not happy you will never want to make the commute, so consider if it’s time for a change of job.
