With all the major changes that happened in 2017 and the introduction of Generation Z into the workforce, it is no surprise that the most sought after jobs of 2017 are drastically different from that of 2016.
Searches for jobs such as “Cyber Security” and “Blockchain” surged in comparison to previous years.
Searches for *Blockchain topped the list with a growth rate of 224%. This could be due to the fact that Blockchain is closely related to the Bitcoin as it is their main technological innovation and this year Bitcoin has featured numerous times in the headlines because it hit top investment growth.
Another popular job search this year was for *Cyber Security. 2017 was famous for security breaches in large named companies and because of this cyber security received a lot of attention in the media. These headlines probably sparked an interest in people thus explaining the staggering rise of job searches in this industry.
On the “Not so Hot” list this year was searches for jobs as Professional Driver. It saw a decrease of 69%. Maybe this is because of the threat of driverless cars perhaps? Worryingly searches for Nurses also seen a drastic decline. With Brexit looming nurses increasingly sough work elsewhere.
