In a time of uncertainty in the job market, it’s now becoming more crucial than ever to monitor which job roles are growing in 2019.
Unsurprisingly, it’s tech roles that have really excelled this year. Jobs that were practically unheard of a few years ago are now in most demand, demonstrating the increasing reliance that businesses now place upon technology.
New research from job site Indeed found that vacancies for IT Engineers are the fastest growing jobs for 2019, with openings growing by over a third in the last year.
The same held true for other roles within the technology sector- mobile developers saw job opportunities increase by 30%, placing them in the top ten job roles with ease. The findings also demonstrate a growing need for advanced machinists, who appeared in the top five fastest growing roles for 2019.
Indeed’s findings come as the UK’s unemployment levels hit their lowest since 1974. The shrinking pool of available workers therefore means that businesses have to fight harder than ever to attract new talent.
Bill Richards, UK Managing Director of Indeed, stated that  ‘it is striking that the roles seeing the greatest growth in demand often reward highly skilled people with high salaries, even at entry level’.
The overall findings capture a broad range of skills and experience, from entry level to more senior roles. While the tightness of the labour market means employers in many sectors are having to reconsider how they attract talent, all this competition is great news for jobseekers. No matter where you are in your current career path, there’s still plenty of scope for change and opportunity.
